Its motion sensor turns on when the lid is lifted and turns off once closed to save battery life, and added ease while grilling. LED illuminates the entire cooking surface. On off motion sensor saves battery life. Can be detached and used as a flashlight. Fits round handles on WEBER SPIRIT, GENESIS and SUMMIT gas grill models year 2007 and newer. Fits all SPIRIT II and GENESIS II grill models.
